Timing is the third factor do discuss. It is known medically that your kidneys cannot metabolize great amounts of protein taken at one time. You will end up wasting your efforts and money, besides you will be straining your kidneys and liver. It is best to take protein on sparse periods of time such as every three or four hours.

Although it is important to take protein in different portions around the day, there are golden times that you should not ignore as they provide you with great opportunities for progress and muscle growth.

One of these times is before your training. Since protein is considered as the main nutrient to the muscles then taking it at these times will provide muscles with the nutrients that they need to grow.

Another golden time is after your workout. It is known also that protein has a recovery feature helping the muscle to recover after a stressful workout. It is in this period that muscle growth takes place. Taking protein at this time will increase the possibility to build bigger muscles since the muscles will be having a recovery agent to assist them.
