In our day to day life, we come across so many obstacles and hurdles. Actually life itself is a challenge; every single minute it brings before us new challenges to overcome. In this world, everyone has to struggle for their existence and the fittest ultimately survive into the life struggle. With the growing global competition, the world is becoming more and more complex place to live. So it has become very much important for us to prepare our kids according to the need of the hour. We have to empower them with the weapon of knowledge, self-confidence, and problem solving skills.

Self confidence and problem solving skills are complementary to each other; when we solve a particular problem that we encountered, our self confidence automatically gets boosted up. On the other hand, with high self confidence, we can overcome any situation that can create obstacle in our way. It is often noticed that kids display a great mastery over things that they are well acquainted with. It was just day before yesterday that I saw a six year old boy solving the Rubik s cube within the span of few minutes only. When I asked his father about how such small child could solve such a tough puzzle, he answered that his son was practicing this task from many years.

Problem solving skill is that particular art which stays with us throughout our life span. We cannot learn this skill overnight; however, our parents and teachers can help us in acquiring this skill. It is not that parents need to impose any kids of restrictions on their little ones for learning different tricks. When kids face challenging situations during their day to day activities, they gradually learn to cope up with it. Parents and teachers can present more challenging situations before the kids to solve; this can be done by means of games. There are some suggestions for the parents to develop this expertise among their kids. These are briefly discussed below:-

1. Being a parent, you can design some special age appropriate game for your child. by means of these games, present some challenging situations, but remember that these challenges should be of the level of your child,

2. Puzzles are also a great way of facing challenges and solving it. In the market, you can get age appropriate puzzles that will suit your child s level of thinking,

3. Make a routine to give your child some mathematical equations to solve. Study proved that kids, who are good in their mathematics, become potent survivors in their later life. Mathematics also help in developing logical thinking abilities among children,

4. Chess is another game that challenges the kids. It is a wonderful strategy game where kids come across new situations every time,

5. Ask your child a riddle every day to solve. Riddles teach the kids to think differently to reach the conclusion,

Try to stop them from jumping to conclusions based on only one or two of the clues perhaps by presenting them with only one clue at a time. This helps children to appreciate the importance of examining each part of a problem individually.
